CONSISTORY MEETING MINUTES
AUGUST 10, 2010 7:15 PM
Pastor Steve Anthes opened the meeting with devotions from the Introduction from the book titled “Coaching 101”.
PRESENT:
Pastor: Steve Anthes
Elders: Christensen, Whisler, Ageton, VanGorp, Westra, Rowenhorst, Kooi, Spaans
Deacons: Klatt, DeVos, Headley, Beal-Wick
OLD BUSINESS:
1. M/S/C Approve minutes of Consistory meeting of July 13, 2010.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
1. M/S/C to approve sending out a new letter regarding the Deacon/Elder visitations. The letter will ask that anyone desiring to meet with consistory representatives to contact the church office to schedule a meeting time.
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE:
1. M/S/C to approve Matt Kaschmitter replacing Dave Van Nieuwenhuyzen on the committee.
2. M/S/C to approve the list of nominees as candidates for the offices of Deacon and Elder. The committee will begin to contact the nominees.
SEARCH COMMITTEE
1. The Search Committee will begin the interview process.
DEACONS REPORT:
1. M/S/C to approve the July 2010 treasurer’s report.
CONSENT AGENDA:
M/S/C to pull item #14 from the list for further discussion:
M/S/C to approve the following items, except for item #14:
M/S/C to approve item #14.
1. Purchase group tickets for November 27th play at the Washington Pavilion “Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas”, if there is enough interest.
2. Soup & Pie Supper date – November 5.
3. Matt & Abby Kaschmitter request to use the multi-purpose room on October 9 from 8:00 to 1:00 for a baby shower. (May need to move to fellowship hall if conflict with worship service setup).
4. Hope Haven to speak at both services on October 3.
5. HS Mission trip to speak at both services on August 15.
6. MS Power Connection to speak at both services on August 22.
7. Japan Mission trip to speak at both services on August 29.
8. Youth family kick-off potluck on September 1 @ 6:00.
9. “12:30 Student Ministries” to begin on September 8 and distribute 50’s Drive-In flyers in the neighborhood.
10. Annual Youth 50’s Drive-In in the church parking lot on September 15.
11. HS Sunday School to study Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace for Youth this fall.
12. Pastor Steve to teach basic faith/church membership and core values of the church to the 8th grade this fall.
13. Order and teach “Live” curriculum for Wednesday night Youth Group.
14. Fall worship schedule to consist of Traditional service in sanctuary @ 8:45 and Praise & Worship service in multi-purpose room @ 10:45.

JULY 13, 2010 7:15 PM
Pastor Steve Anthes opened the meeting with devotions about the book titled “Coaching 101”.
Books were passed out and we will discuss chapter 1 at our August meeting.

Deacons: Klatt, VanNieuwenhuyzen, DeVos, Headley, Beal-Wick, Goodwin, Perrenoud, Kaschmitter
OLD BUSINESS:
1. M/S/C Approve minutes of Consistory meeting of June 8, 2010.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
1. M/S/C to approve that all individuals desiring financial assistance for mission trips/endeavors either from First Reformed Church, Sioux Falls, SD or from the members of the congregation must meet with the Consistory. The Consistory will either approve or deny financial assistance on a case-by-case basis. If financial assistance is approved, the Consistory will also determine the type of assistance that will consist of one or more of the following; a Special Offering, Fund-raisers, or using funds from First Reformed Church, Sioux Falls, SD.
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE:
1. The Nominations Committee has been meeting and will compile a list of nominees for consistory approval.
SEARCH COMMITTEE
1. Mari Perrenoud will be the leader of this committee.
2. M/S/C to approve a job posting to begin advertising for the position of director of Youth Ministries and also a job description to be posted on our web-site.
DEACONS REPORT:
1. M/S/C to approve the June 2010 treasurer’s report.
2. M/S/C to approve putting $75,000 into a money-market account with Dacotah Bank. This will leaves us with about $50,000 for operating.
CONSENT AGENDA:
M/S/C to approve the following items:
1. New ministry “Sister Chicks” (girls night out) with July 20th as the first meeting.
2. Reitz family to use the fellowship hall on 7/18 for family gathering.
3. “Big Brothers, Big Sisters” speak for 3-5 minutes in both services to share their program.
4. To serve at The Banquet on August 11 at the cost of up to $700.00.
5. For Jennifer Van Dyk and Jessica Schuldt to share in church about upcoming Japan trip and to have a fund-raising brunch on 7/25.
6. Kick-Off Sunday will be September 12th at 10:00 AM. The Willow Creek Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys will lead worship.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. M/S/C to approve that Brittney Anthes have a meal at Steve & Janet’s home on August 2 for her to share about her upcoming mission work with Fellowship House in Billings, MT beginning in September. She will place an announcement in the bulletin and send out mailers.
